WhisprTyper Privacy Policy
Effective date: 23 July 2026
1. Who we are
WhisprTyper is provided by BITE TECHNOLOGIES LTD (Company No. 16023140), registered in England and Wales, with registered office at 27 Old Gloucester Street, London, WC1N 3AX, United Kingdom. Contact: admin@bite.technology.
2. Data we do not collect
We do not operate a WhisprTyper account system or cloud transcription backend. We do not collect names, email addresses, contacts, dictated audio, transcripts, usage analytics, advertising identifiers, crash analytics, or location through the app. We do not sell or share personal data for advertising and do not track you across apps or websites.
3. Audio and transcripts
The default WhisperKit Multilingual engine captures and transcribes audio on your Mac. Captured audio is used for the current transcription and is not uploaded to BITE TECHNOLOGIES LTD. WhisprTyper keeps at most one recent transcript temporarily in process memory for recovery; it is not written to transcript history and disappears when cleared, replaced, or when the app quits.
If you explicitly choose the optional Apple System Speech engine, macOS may process speech on-device or may send audio to Apple depending on language, availability, and system behavior. That processing is provided by Apple and is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
4. Model download and network access
On first use, WhisperKit downloads an approximately 626 MB machine-learning model hosted through the open-source WhisperKit/Hugging Face distribution infrastructure. The model is cached in the app’s local model cache for future offline use. Network providers may receive standard connection information such as IP address, request time, and requested file as part of delivering the model; WhisprTyper does not send your microphone audio or transcript with that request. See Hugging Face’s Privacy Policy.
5. Information stored locally
WhisprTyper stores settings on your Mac, such as your chosen keyboard shortcut, recording mode, transcription engine, automatic-trigger preference, and whether setup has been shown. The downloaded model is also stored locally. These items remain under your macOS account in WhisprTyper’s local app data and are not transmitted to us.
6. Permissions
- Microphone is used to capture speech for transcription.
- Accessibility is used to insert the finished transcript into the app and field you were using. WhisprTyper does not use this permission to build a history of your activity.
- Speech Recognition is requested only if you select Apple System Speech.
- Network access is used for the initial model download.
7. Retention and deletion
Because we do not collect app data on our servers, we have no WhisprTyper transcript or account record to retain or delete. You can clear the in-memory transcript from the app menu, remove the downloaded model and local preferences by deleting WhisprTyper’s local app data, or uninstall the app.
8. Children
WhisprTyper is a general productivity tool and is not directed to children. We knowingly collect no personal data from children through the app.
9. Changes
If WhisprTyper’s data practices materially change, we will update this policy, its effective date, and the App Store privacy disclosure before or when the change is released.
10. Contact
Privacy questions can be sent to admin@bite.technology. General product help is available on the WhisprTyper Support page.
